Flâner
Born in 2010, Flâner organises free live DJ sets at unconventional outdoor venues in the city of Melbourne. Its founder, Joe Gannon, commissioned me to create a brand identity.
flâner
French Verb
to wander around
to loiter, mill about
With gigs in Melbourne alleyways, squares and warehouse spaces, Flâner encourages the exploration of the city from a different perspective. An angled logotype encourages a tilt of the head; a gesture which communicates that a person is interested in what they are seeing or listening to.

These take their cue from the circular logo; the inner triangle plays homage to the the circumflex (^) from the top of the ‘a’ in Flaner. The subverted image within reiterates the idea of exploration from another perspective. The triangle shape also mimics a play button, driving direction through sound.
